hum match jeet gaye...err..did we??
For those who still haven't got the meaning of the topic, it jus' means "we won the match", where we=India & match=Nanotech race.
Well at first thought no sane person would say so with OECD teams likes Yankees & Germans and our own BRIC pool Chinees hitting home runs with their mamoth investments in Nanotech. But that's what I got from a cue, from what Howard Loy suggests.
Here is the picture:
Indiyaa comes on top on Google trends list w.r.t nanotechnology. Now what that means is that, of all internet users in the world, Indians were the one who searched the most for Nanotechnology. Wow....we are the one's who are most inquisitive about Nanotechnology. Folks from Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi outdid their peers from even cities like Washington & Houston, when it came to being curious about Nanotechnology. That's something to feel wonderful about, afterall we are the ones most passionate about something that might tomorrow prove to be a breakthorough technology, that might make or break economies.
Still, everything's not hunky-dory, we are still far behind in nanotech investment vis-a-vis China, US or others (assuming we are in the match for a post-2010 numero uno pole postition). On the non-govt. front we have a flurry of intiatives (NSTC, Yash nanotech, United Nanotechnologies et al.) and maybe that might tilt the balance for us. After all as one corporate honcho once put "Our economy grows when the Govt. sleeps" and maybe as in cricket we might scrap through in the last over or so. I have my fingers crossed..
P.S: Those who haven't noticed, the Ayatollahs a.k.a. Iran comes 2nd on the Google trends list... something for George to think about when he see my post.. if he's tht smart i.e.
